The Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) is opening a new stakeholder consultation as part of the benchmarking of the Seafood Processing Standard issue 5 against the GFSI Benchmarking Requirements Version 7.1.
Following the publication of Version 7.1 of the GFSI Benchmarking Requirements, all recognised certification programme owners had to decide whether to renew their recognition. GFSI is very pleased that the Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) did so for their certification programme dedicated to seafood.
GAA’s existing processing standard and certification programme are already GFSI-recognised and this renewal process now relates to its Seafood Processing Standard, issue 5. This new standard has been extended to cover wild as well as farmed seafood, and it provides a consistent and comprehensive platform for both sources. For over 20 years, GAA’s programme has been dedicated to promoting responsible seafood and providing high quality solutions in the world of certification.
Why a Stakeholder Consultation?
Open stakeholder consultations are an important step in this process to ensure the greatest transparency and objectivity, and are conducted after the desktop self-assessment review and the office visit led by an independent benchmark leader.
