In order to be recognised by GFSI, a certification programme owner (CPO) must successfully go through the GFSI benchmarking process. This applies to all certification programmes, including those having gone through another benchmarking process. There is therefore no automatic GFSI recognition.

Each certification programme submitted to GFSI is requested to clarify the scopes which are being submitted for benchmarking.

The certification programmes that have currently been submitted to GFSI and are undergoing the GFSI Benchmarking Process have applied for the scopes of recognition as follows:

STEP 0 - APPLICATION
STEP 1 - SELF-ASSESSMENT CARRIED OUT BY BENCHMARK LEADERS
STEP 2 - PRELIMINARY DESK REVIEW
STEP 3 - CALL TO GO THROUGH FINDINGS
STEP 4 - UPDATES AND FINAL SELF-ASSESSMENT
STEP 5 - OFFICE VISIT
STEP 6 - PUBLIC STAKEHOLDER CONSULTATION
STEP 7 - GFSI BOARD FINAL DECISION AND COMMUNICATION
