GFSI Feed Working Group
This group met for the first time in August 2011 and has been mandated to:
- Review current best food safety practice in relation to Feed.
- Define and develop the scope(s) of recognition in relation to Feed and the key elements that shall be in place for the recognition of food safety requirements for Feed by GFSI in the GFSI Guidance Document.
- Review and define the competence of auditors required to be in place for schemes applying to the GFSI for recognition within the scope(s) of Feed.
- Review and define the duration of audits in relation to the Feed scope(s) of recognition.
- Provide technical recommendations and advice to the GFSI Board on issues relating to Feed in the food supply chain
Once the Feed Working Group have completed their work, the key elements for the Feed scope of recognition will be integrated into the GFSI Guidance Document. Feed safety schemes will then be able to apply for recognition against this scope, and if the scheme’s requirements are considered to be equivalent to the key elements laid out in the GFSI Guidance Document, the scheme shall achieve formal recognition by GFSI.
