PARIS, 3rd August 2018 – The Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) Board of Directors is pleased to announce that International Featured Standard (IFS) Food, IFS Logistics and IFS PacSecure were all recognised against version 7.1 of the GFSI Benchmarking Requirements.

In 2017, GFSI published version 7.1 of the Benchmarking Requirements as part of its objective to continually evolve them and to reflect new industry challenges, best practices and stakeholder input. IFS, one of GFSI’s recognised certification programme owners (CPOs) for many years, was invited to complete a new assessment. One of the key ways in which GFSI ensures that new requirements are implemented throughout the industry to ensure safe food for consumers, everywhere is through this collaborative exercise.

Stephan Tromp, Managing Director at IFS, welcomed the news, saying, “We are delighted that the IFS Standards for Food, Logistics and Packaging have all achieved benchmarking against the new GFSI Benchmarking Requirements V 7.1".

Emphasising the robust management of the IFS certification programmes, Tromp added, “Our integrity programme and auditor exam guarantee the high quality of the IFS Standards. So, we fully support the new GFSI Benchmarking Requirements V 7.1. The benchmark process was an exciting opportunity for IFS to review all our tools and processes. Also, the discussions with the GFSI experts gave us added value and new input for further improvements”.

IFS looks forward to the continued journey with GFSI and aims to continue to raising the bar of food safety and quality.

GFSI applauds IFS on their achievement and for their efforts in improving consumer trust by addressing collective food safety concerns.
