The Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) is pleased to announce its first ever awards programme. The first edition will be dedicated to the GFSI Global Markets Programme. The GFSI 2017 Global Markets Programme Awards will recognise three companies or individuals that have leveraged the GFSI Global Markets Programme from beginning to end, resulting in full certification of their company or operations within their company against a GFSI-benchmarked food safety management scheme. The award includes travel and attendance at the 2017 Global Food Safety Conference (GFSC) and on the pre-conference Discovery Tour.
The 2017 awards are sponsored by greenfence.
The GFSI Global Markets Programme sets out how companies who lack or have underdeveloped food safety systems can address the challenge of food safety, while simultaneously reducing hazards in global food supply chains and working towards market access through certification to one of the 10 GFSI-recognised schemes. It provides an unaccredited entry point for these companies with its step-by-step programme designed to build capacity within production and manufacturing operations, and implement a course of continuous improvement.
What are the GFSI 2017 Global Markets Programme Awards?
The objective of the GFSI 2017 Global Markets Programme Awards is to recognise best practice within the Global Markets Programme and provide travel funding and attendance for a representative of each of the three winning companies at the GFSC 2017 that is taking place in Houston in February next year. Attendance at the industry’s largest food safety event includes the plenary and breakout sessions as well as the exclusive Discovery Tour.
By publicly recognising what best practice looks like, the aim of these awards is to highlight the pathway towards certification of companies who have leveraged the GFSI Global Markets Programme from beginning to end, resulting in full certification of their company or operations against a GFSI-benchmarked food safety management scheme. And, through their attendance at GFSC 2017, the aim is to also provide unrivalled networking opportunities for the three company representatives.
The GFSC is a unique, annual event bringing together over 1,000 leading food safety specialists from over 50 countries to advance Food Safety globally. The awards will, through the Conference, provide the opportunity to meet and network with industry peers, share knowledge, benefit from thought leadership discussions, listen to presentations from internationally reputed industry experts and hear innovative ideas on how to implement tangible solutions across companies and geographies. In addition, the aim of the Food Safety Discovery Tour is to provide Global Food Safety Conference delegates with a unique insight into how an operation prioritises and manages food safety on a daily basis. Delegates have the opportunity to ask questions as well as the possibility to take photos (where appropriate and agreed in advance with the facility). Visits to an array of local sites enable delegates to discover food safety along the supply chain. Hosts will provide Food Safety delegates unique opportunities for questions and discussions and explanations about running local operations.
