GFSI has opened a new stakeholder consultation. The latest programme owner to have reached this key step in the GFSI Technical Equivalence process is USDA AMS. The USDA Agricultural Marketing Services is responsible for the management and oversight of the USDA Good Agricultural Practices Program.
The certification programme, USDA GAP+ was developed under the Agricultural Marketing Act 1946, granting the authority for USDA to develop and implement voluntary programmes and services to facilitate the marketing of agricultural products.
For Technical Equivalence purposes, the USDA AMS Good Agricultural Practices Programs Harmonized: USDA GAP+ is being benchmarked against the GFSI Benchmarking Requirements v 7.1.
The applicant performs across the 50 states and territories of the United States of America.

Open stakeholder consultations are an important step in this process to ensure the greatest transparency and objectivity, and are conducted after the desktop self-assessment review led by an independent benchmark leader.
