GFSI is pleased to open a new global stakeholder consultation for the latest edition of the GFSI Benchmarking Requirements V7, version 7.2.
As part of our commitment to providing transparency, we invite all stakeholders to participate in a a public consultation as an integral part of every benchmarking process.
With its status as a multi-stakeholder document that impacts a vast part of the food industry, we feel this is the process by which we can best involve food safety practitioners and experts.
At GFSI, we drive harmonisation and continuous improvement in food safety systems through our extensive benchmarking and recognition work. GFSI is relentlessly evolving to meet the needs of a rapidly-changing industry. In this new edition, GFSI expands its guidance on auditor competence and new scopes of the supply chain.
An aspect critical to the credibility of certification programmes is the competence of auditors. GFSI has worked with matter experts to strengthen the benchmarking requirements on the topic. In addition to a clear set of skills, experience and education, version 7.2 will also require the incorporation of a set of GFSI-issued questions into the auditor’s assessment programme. The addition of these questions, based on the content of the benchmarking requirements, increases the consistency of auditors’ evaluations.
GFSI's inclusive farm-to-fork approach is continually strengthened by incorporating new scopes. Version 7.1 saw the addition of agents and brokers, while Version 7.2 will incorporate scopes dedicated to retail and catering.
To learn more about these and other new features, we invite you to peruse the Executive Summary of Changes, available within the documentation pack of this public consultation. The public consultation is open for a period of four weeks, ending on 22nd January, 2018.
