Record Engagement from Public and Private Sectors. Beijing has just hosted the fifth edition of the GFSI China Focus Day, which gathered 395 delegates from around China, as well as other countries including Japan, France and the USA. The Focus Day, endorsed by key Chinese national agencies, benefited from the engagement of leading local and global companies operating in the food sector.

The second of the three such commitments in 2016, this GFSI Board Meeting took place on the sidelines of a gathering of the world’s consumer goods industry leaders at the Consumer Goods Forum Global Summit taking place in South Africa this week.

Danny Wegman, CEO of US retail giant Wegmans, presented on the importance of food safety to more than 800 other consumer goods industry CEOs at last month’s CGF Global Summit in Cape Town. Organised by The Consumer Goods Forum (CGF), the Global Summit is the industry’s annual flagship event, with the 2016 edition focused on seizing opportunities in the face of disruption. During his talk, Wegman emphasised the need for the commitment to food safety to come from the very top of the company.
